Jada, Where You Been Girl?

I can't believe I haven't blogged since 2022. I had no intentions on ghosting y'all (I promise.) Today, July 3, 2025, I got a wake up call. I woke up today and received some mail. The mail contained bad news. I said aloud, "Yeah...it's time for me to get my shit together." The Holy Spirit brought me back to this blog. So here I am. Back and better. Ready to turn Jada Shantrice: The Blog up a notch.

My Goals

Three years ago I started this blog. I didn't necessarily have any goals for the blog at the time. I just wanted to produce more content outside of my poetry collections, The Flower Who Bloomed and I Thought I Had Room. Things have changed. Some of my goals for this blog are to:

• reach a larger audience.

• produce more engaging content.

• target a more specific audience.

I plan on reaching my goals by being more consistent. I realized today how much I love writing. It's more than my passion. It's an outlet for me.

Life Lately

Not gone lie, I've been all over the place. Mentally. Physically. And emotionally. I now teach English Language Arts to 4th grade. I graduate with my Master's in Creative Writing in May of 2026. I got baptized on August 25, 2024. My love life is decent. I got a toy poodle last Christmas. Everything is everything. I'm just not where I want to be financially (which I will discuss in my next blog.) I paid for three sessions of micro-needling, finally. That has always been a goal of mine. I have been busting my ass, but I haven't been working hard enough in my opinion. A lot has happened over the last three years—good and bad. Today made me realize I want better for myself. So here I am. Open. Honest. And vulnerable about upcoming growth and change.

What's Next?

As for me, I'm working on my third poetry book. I have a title and some of the content for it. I just need to work harder on executing it. I need to produce more content. I plan on switching careers next year after graduating with my master's. I plan on paying off 30% of my debt by the end of the year. I plan on continuing the self-work in general—inside and out. Shit, I plan on just growing and elevating in all aspects of my life. I haven't exposed everything I'm working on, but just know it's coming in due time. I know I can do it, especially with God at the center of my life.

Staying Inspired

Staying inspired is big for me right now. Inspiration alone is going to take me where I want to be. To those of you who are lacking inspiration, always consider the end-goal. Go after the target. Never remain content, or you'll find yourself pouring into your passion three years later (not me shading myself lol.) Stay inspired, babes! We can do it together! Jada Shantrice: The Blog is back!
